I must preface this by saying I adore my boys!!! They are my world but they are strange little beings.
There is nothing like having a visitor to your home to notice and shine a light on the absurdity of your family’s life. I am weird and I know my hubby is a little weird. Heck, we probably wouldn’t have hooked up if we weren’t both weird. Odds are we would have somewhat weird offspring (unlike supermodels who mate – their kids tend to be non-supermodelish, “weird” seems to be passed on rather easily). I just forget how weird we are until there is a witness to the insanity and I find myself having to explain what just happened. Oddly enough, words fail me and I usually end up just saying, “Yeah, we are a little weird.” (more…)
PLEASE EXCUSE THE CHEESEBALL FACTOR. WHEN I AM TIRED, WILD THOUGHTS APPEAR IN MY HEAD AND THEN, SOMETIMES, ONTO PAPER.
I have been thinking a lot about what it means to be a good person. I know the general consensus is that a good person keeps out of trouble and manages to stay out of jail. This person does not beat people or steal etc. and can hold down a job and feed his or her family. Based on these definitions, I think I can safely say that I am a “good” person. (more…)
I guess I fooled myself again. I got all excited and giddy thinking about the approaching summer season. Oooh, I could just feel the sweet summer breezes. Never mind that I live in Texas where the temperature hovers in the high 90’s and low 100’s. Every year I fall for the hype that summer is supposed to be lazy and carefree. Now that it is here, shouldn’t I be sipping lemonade while swinging in my hammock all afternoon instead of running around in a frenzy? Well, news flash! I am not living a carefree summer. Heck, I don’t even have a hammock. If I did, it would probably still be in the box because I have no time to put anything together, much less use it. (more…)
Do I have to answer every question that is directed at me? Is it rude to not answer questions even if to answer would be no big deal? I ask because it seems like so many people feel free to ask just about anything these days. I am not talking about friends and family, I am talking about people I see in line at the store, people ringing up my purchases, and people at work who I don’t even pretend to like. I am getting rather tired of it so I have compiled the following list for reference in case any one of those people happen to be reading this! Please, don’t ask me the following things: (more…)
Summer is in full swing and the juices are flowing at my crazy house. When I mean juices, I mean the stuff that oozes from my boys after a long day outside with other boys. The boys are either falling and scraping or cutting something, hence the blood. It is hot and the are just dripping with sweat 24/7 here in Texas, and it wouldn’t be a normal day if someone didn’t cry (sometimes that someone is me). (more…)
I had the pleasure of having my niece, Brooke, visit me for a couple of days this week. She is a beautiful 11-year-old. She has big blue eyes and long, thick blonde hair. Over the last few months she has really changed into a young lady. She dresses impeccably with the appropriate accessories and hairstyle. When she visited, I noticed she was wearing lip gloss and glitter lotion. She even asked me for a razor! I don’t remember shaving at that age but who knows! That was a LONG time ago. (more…)
